William Jennings Bryan

[edit]

Quoth the article: William Jennings Bryan was notified that he would be the Democrat nominee for the Presidency of the United States on August 7, 1900. The two hour rally was preceded by a march by the candidates from Indianapolis' Union Station.[8] ([8] = "ALL READY AT INDIANAPOLIS.; The Town Completes Arrangements For the Bryan Notification Ceremonies", New York Times, 6 August 1900)

Wow. Just...wow. Could somebody figure a way to reconstruct this phrasing? I've got absolutely no clue how, what with the random 'two hour rally' and 'march' items. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Washii (talkcontribs) 06:27, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at ths and the paragraph in the article to which it refers raises the obvious question: what the heck does it have to do with Military Park. Looking up the story in the NYT, provides the answer: "INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., Aug. 6. -- Final arrangements have been completed for the meeting to notify William J. Bryan and Adlai E. Stevenson of their nomination as President and Vice President by the Democratic Party. Military Park, where the notification will take place, has been elaborately decorated." Perhaps some thought should be given to include the connection to Miliary Park in the article so it's appearance in this article has at least some obvious connection to Military Park. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:801:380:63E0:CD33:F442:6960:34F2 (talk) 09:38, 25 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Shelter House?

[edit]

For some bizarre reason, this article talks about the renovation of the shelter (basically an open air structure for picnics, etc.) and then links to the wiki article on british housing useage of the term "shelter housing" which is a totally different thing - some sort of subsidized housing for disabled or elderly people. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.51.66.32 (talk) 16:56, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
