promotional "Pageant System" section removed

[edit]

I just removed the "Pageant System" section from the article, for several reasons:

  • It appears promotional, giving info that is suited for a website supporting the event
  • It includes forward forecasts about how the contest will operate in future years. Per wp:crystalball, we avoid making forecasts in Wikipedia
  • It makes claims about the integrity of the Miss Universe Denmark selection process that are opinions or "official policy", but may well not be true in fact. We are not here to state what the contest organizers wish, or to approve of their assertions that only the best qualified candidates are chosen, etc. (Nor are we here to make negative assertions, e.g. that contestants have to give sexual favors or pay bribes or that the contest is otherwise rigged...and to be clear I do not know of any such negative claims). We are not to endorse the organization, anyhow.

Here is the passage I removed:

Pageant system

Girls that apply for Face of Denmark must submit photos and videos. Starting in 2016, these delegates will be narrowed down to a top 14 decided on by the organization.

The delegates do not pay an entrance fee, and are selected based on their physical beauty, personality, intelligence, and competitive edge. Physical measurements are not taken into consideration. Once the semi-finalists are selected, they are given the option to choose three regional titles depending on where they are originally from or where they currently live in Denmark. The titles are then assigned based on a "first come, first serve" basis, and the girls are subsequently "crowned" and unveiled to the public. The girls undergo rigorous boot camps for walking, interview, physical fitness, styling and more. The semi-finalists participate in photoshoots, videotaping and more. During the finale weekend, hair, make-up, swimsuit, and evening gowns are provided for the finalists free of charge. The competitors are judged in a preliminary competition the day before finals, which includes an individual four-minute personality interview, swimsuit competition, and evening gown competition. Preliminaries are held privately and are not open to the public.

During the finals, the girls recompete in swimsuit, evening gown, and all are asked two on stage questions, one in Danish and one in English. The combined scores from the day before and the finale determine the placements. These placements are: Second Princess, First Princess, Miss United Continent Denmark, Miss International Denmark, Miss Earth Denmark, and Miss Universe Denmark. The four titles are considered equally important and have separate duties.

In 2016, the pageant date is scheduled for April, and will allow for the delegates to have six to eight months to prepare for their respective pageants.

In 2017, the competition will be held between September - December of 2016, giving the 2017 titleholders over a year to prepare for their respective pageants. [1]

Happy to discuss this, although I regard this as clearly inappropriate for the article. --doncram 22:18, 28 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
