Second forename
[edit]The page says "He had no second forename, but used the initial 'I'." This seems to mean that the use of 'I' was quite arbitrary. But he is born Moses Isaac! Do I miss something? --Dominique Meeùs (talk) 19:17, 27 April 2018 (UTC)
- Wikipedia pages in other languages say his name was Moses Israel Finkelstein/Finley. Who is right?--Lamassus (talk) 17:09, 17 October 2019 (UTC) In French they say his second name was Immanuel. Isaac, Israel or Immanuel? It appears he gave a different name in any country.--Lamassus (talk) 17:13, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
- The authoritative Brill's New Pauly says he was born Moses Israel Finkelstein. ש. יונתן (talk) 12:35, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
Surname
[edit]The page says "About 1936, he took the surname Finley." But the Oxford dict. cited as ref. says (for the part readable without paying) 1946. I propose to write 1946 and drop the part on the second surname (of little interest) until the matter is clarified. --Dominique Meeùs (talk) 19:23, 27 April 2018 (UTC)
