Discontinued?[edit]

Can anyone clarify the status of MuPAD? This edit is based on it being discontinued.

I found this blog that says it was discontinued in 2005 and yet our article states that the last stable release was in 2008.

muPAD is used by various things including the symbolic toolbox in MATLAB so it is still available in some form.

A google search offers plenty of places where muPAD itself can be downloaded from. On the other hand, mupad.com is very sparse.

Even if it is no longer being developed, is it right to refer to it in the past tense? If you have a copy of muPAD, surely it still does all the things we talk about in the article.

There was a release this year Version 5.5 (R2010b)--Salix (talk): 17:39, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Seems like rumours of its death were exagerated. Would anyone object to us not saying that it is discontinued? Yaris678 (talk) 17:22, 14 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think the key is in the distinction between the free version maintained by the university of Paderborn and the commcercial one. The free version and the university project have been discontinued, but the commercial version is still alive.--Kmhkmh (talk) 20:46, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
