Huopalahdentien yliajajan tuomio ei muuttunut hovioikeudessa

"Koulutytön yli Helsingin Munkkivuoressa ajaneen miehen rangaistus ei muuttunut hovioikeudessa. Helsingin hovioikeus piti tuomion puolentoista vuoden ehdottomana vankeutena. Helsingin käräjäoikeus päätyi samaan rangaistukseen yli vuosi sitten. Kuolonkolari sattui elokuussa 2002 Huopalahdentiellä, kun kolmikymppinen mies ajoi autolla päin punaisia. Suojatiellä alle jäänyt yhdeksänvuotias tyttö sai surmansa. Tytön vanhemmat vaativat hovioikeudessa tuomion korottamista kahteen vuoteen. Autoa ajanut mies halusi rangaistuksen lieventämistä. Mies kiisti ajaneensa selkeästi punaisia päin, mutta hovioikeus katsoi tulleen näytetyksi, että liikennevalot olivat olleet punaisina ainakin viisi sekuntia, kun mies ajoi suojatielle. Paikalla oli 50 kilometrin nopeusrajoitus. Mies myönsi hovioikeuden istunnossa, että hänen nopeutensa oli niin suuri, ettei hän olisi kyennyt pysäyttämään autoaan ennen risteystä."
