Article issues

[edit]

There is a noticeable issue and content worthy of consideration:

  • The wikitable in the "Council members under the 1954 Charter" needs to be rescaled to fit the page.
  • The "Members" section has seven citations with six of these from Ballotpedia. This is unnecessary citation overkill.

Possible content

  • There was controversy that arose after the state anti-abortion trigger law went into affect. The trigger law holds that abortions would only be allowed for medically futile and ectopic pregnancies, with no exceptions for rape or incest, making the state one of the strictest on abortion restrictions in the country.
  • A council member and the council president urged Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams not to prosecute patients or physicians of abortion procedures.
  • Williams had stated he will not prosecute abortion providers and the New Orleans City Council voted unanimously on a resolution to prevent city entities from enforcing Louisiana's abortion trigger laws in an attempt that would make the city a “sanctuary city”. The mayer, city council, and the District Attorney is being blamed for city lawlessness.
  • Since there are currently no abortion clinics in Louisiana this is more of a symbolic gesture but state and local official take an oath to uphold the laws of the state.
  • In light of the city officials position the state delayed a $39 million flood control funding that was finally approved.
