Split proposed[edit]

I suggest renaming or splitting this artilcle into United States Senate election in New York, 1964. It's all about that election, and there's no discussion of other elections in NY that year. —GoldRingChip 01:05, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That's not quite correct. The State election is about statewide elected officers (in this case only the U.S. senator) and Assembly and Senate, also mentioned in the text. The latter part needs more info, but the "State election" series follows a pattern since 1777, with articles already written for most years between 1844 and 1974. The correct proceeding would be to unhook the redirect and write an article just on this subject (the Senate election) and either append a "main article" template or add a link at the "See also" section; and keep only basic info on the Senate election here.
