[edit]I am attempting to find some external references to substantiate the article. I've found some articles related to Newman's protest of the event at Princeton, but nothing that would establish the timescale or origin at Bates. If any back issues of the newspaper where it's mentioned (The Student) are available online, that would make a good source. Kadin2048 08:21, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
- The observation of Newman Day at Princeton likely does not predate 1995, when several Princeton undergrads were present for Newman Day at Bates. They were not Freshmen, and claimed to have never encountered the celebration at Princeton. PinusStrobus 05:31, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- It seems the Newman Day at Bates College began earlier on. As a current student at Bates, I will attempt to find information concerning the origins of Newman Day. Lostvalley 20:22, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- It seems as though most reliable sources point to its foundation at Bates College. Induegems (talk) 00:14, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
