Fair use rationale for Image:NMW.jpg

[edit]

Image:NMW.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

very Beatles-sounding

[edit]

Any remarks about that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.63.16.20 (talk) 18:22, 20 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean? Martinevans123 (talk) 18:56, 20 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Def Leppard infobox

[edit]

Why is there an infobox and Personnel section for Def Leppard included? There is no mention of their cover in the body of the article, and no indication that their cover charted or had meaningful coverage to meet WP:COVERSONG. Schazjmd (talk) 13:40, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Agree, should not be there. It never charted anywhere. It's not even mentioned at Def Leppard. So I have removed. Unless someone can find a source to mention it, the Def Leppard Cat and template should also go. 86.187.167.253 (talk) 16:26, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the edits. I came to the article as a reader and the infobox caught my attention (had never heard of their cover) so I was expecting the article to say something about it, only to be disappointed. Schazjmd (talk) 16:37, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Def Leppard made a cover of this song on 2006 on their Yeah! album. That's a fact, not an opinion. 01:54, 2 July 2023 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Martiniturbide (talkcontribs)
@Martiniturbide, please explain how the Def Leppard version meets WP:COVERSONG. Schazjmd (talk) 14:53, 2 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
After a week with no reply, I'm removing Def Leppard again. I cannot find any sources that their cover meets WP:NSONG or WP:COVERSONG (which states Merely appearing in an album track listing, a discography, etc., is not sufficient to show that a cover version is noteworthy; cover songs with only these types of sources should not be added to song articles, either as prose or in a list.). It should not be restored to the article without at least one reliable independent source that discusses the song (not just mentions it) or supports that it charted. Schazjmd (talk) 16:57, 8 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh my god, I got to explain an evil wikipedian why Def Leppard is a relevant band. Def Leppard is a relevant band that made a cover of this song. Martiniturbide (talk) 17:20, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No, you don't got to explain "why Def Leppard is a relevant band." If you've read WP:NSONG or WP:COVERSONG you'll understand that you got to explain why the Def Leppard version is notable. It's not a case of anyone being "evil". It's just the rules. Thanks. 86.187.165.128 (talk) 20:02, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It is "notable" to Def Leppard fans, with that I comply with the rules. Are you "notable" ? Martiniturbide (talk) 00:19, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia doesn't exist for the benefit of Def Leppard fans. Had you considered applying your efforts at Defleppardpedia? 86.187.230.246 (talk) 07:35, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I can't tell if you can't understand the guidelines or you're feigning ignorance. Either way, enough people have pointed you in the right direction that you should leave the article alone.Doctorhawkes (talk) 09:14, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia exists for the benefit of the world. Who chooses what is "not notable" ? Martiniturbide (talk) 14:12, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
For singles, Wikipedia usually expects chart entry and/or discussion by third party sources. Thanks. 86.187.231.119 (talk) 07:21, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Doctorhawkes asks on my Talk Page something more reasonable. "..please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in No Matter What (Badfinger song), disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems." Martiniturbide (talk) 14:42, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's a polite way of saying "please don't add an infobox for the Def Leppard version." 86.187.161.0 (talk) 16:56, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
FYI: Live_and_Let_Die_(song) has two infobox Martiniturbide (talk) 21:28, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
