IMDb

[edit]

I'm coming here from this discussion Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Non-Summit IMDb link as this talk page is the correct place to discuss the inclusion of the IMDb link. As mentioned there, IMDb is generally acceptable as an external link unlike as a RS per Wikipedia:External links/Perennial websites#IMDb. There also isn't a requirement for only one external link. However that doesn't mean IMDb is required. IMDb is often useful as it provides more info albeit generally with less reliability than wikipedia. But in this case, perhaps because it's a South Korean game show under discussion, I don't see what useful info the IMDb link Non-Summit at IMDb provides. It's very bare bones with a cast of 3 people, a release date, country of origin and language, alternative name [1], a production company and links to the official site and a few news stories [2]. Oh and a single cast shot (or something) and the amazing detail that it's in colour ;-) Nearly all of these are already in the article. (Well we mention it's a JTBC show but don't seem to really mention it's a JTBC production and don't directly mention it's in colour. And I'm not sure if we everything that IMDb has as an external source. But we do mention that the 3 people who are just list as series cast are the presenters and a lot of other useful info such as number of episodes and and seasons, and the game show is about that IMDb does now.) So I would support exclusion of the IMDb link. Nil Einne (talk) 10:07, 26 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • I also support excluding the IMDb link for this article, as it does not offer additional useful information not currently present on the WP article. Thank you Nil Einne for your helpful discussion of this.--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 03:14, 27 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
