Perhaps this should be changed from Norderney Airport to Norderney Airfield or maybe Norderney Aerodrome ? Would better reflect the official status in German as a Verkehrslandeplatz rather than Flughafen ? The words Airfield or Aerodrome are widely understood in English to mean something similiar to airport, but to be smaller than an airport. Pmbma (talk) 17:46, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In my view that would be inaccurate. The common name in German is Flughafen from what I can tell, (which translates to "airport"), not Flugplatz (which translates to "airfield"). The official status of the facility should have no bearing on what we call it, per WP:COMMONNAME, WP:OFFICIAL. If its legal status as a Verkehrslandeplatz rather than a Verkehrsflughafen is deemed significant, it should be covered in the article body. – Recoil (talk) 18:13, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
