Many social services in Vermont that are normally provided by government, and documented from there under another article or series of articles, are furnished by "agencies" in Vermont that are sort of independent but really dependent on government money to a great extent. The government retains flexibility and employees are not future state retirees. Student7 (talk) 14:11, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There are dozens or maybe hundreds of these agencies, all with a slightly different relationship to the state government, and there is no known "flowchart" to adequately describe or link them. If Wikipedia is successful, it will be the first outside of a handful of legislators who understand the process. Student7 (talk) 14:22, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I guess this is just notes to myself. No one else seems to be reading it! Not sure why a self-documented state system comfortably located in the state capital, essentially shuffling papers. can justify their existence, and a working agency in the field cannot. Why is that?
I have NO connection with this agency whatever other than a place to insert new material when it arises. Not sure how it ever got out of stub stage. Student7 (talk) 02:17, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
i apologize, i was not accusing you of COI, mereley saying the website itself is promotional, not a third party source might want to review WP:ORG. The only other source here is a Directory of headstart programs a trivial mention like a phone book entry would be. If it becomes notable later it would be appropriate to add back, but right now it seems to not be. Weaponbb7 (talk) 02:31, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No need to apologize. Just wanted you to know that this was hardly personal.
Well, US Senator Sanders lists it as a "government" agency - have to click to expand - (presumably government-owned). My documentation of this goes well beyond my interest. It appears to be a government owned agency as far as I can figure. How much effort do I need to make to justify the existence of an article on one of the two or three major government (owned) social services agencies in a three county area? What can you say about a government agency? It just is. It does what it is supposed to do - administer to impoverished people (okay a couple of other non-poverty functions). Student7 (talk) 03:57, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
then it is not notable. Bulk of the article: http://www.nekca.org/ here Primary source fine if it did not constitute 40% article, Guidestar contains Tax record which again is primary source. Caldonian record mentions and U.S. Department of Education mention are Trivial mentions in directories. , WiserEarth is a copy paste on wikistyle site and does not do anything but parrot the orginal. "About Vermont:Government:Agencies" completely contradicts every other source here. the only halfway way decent source is the rutland herald is the rutland hearald source it is one sentence saying it lost its federal grant. So this only tells me it exists, however it is notable enough to be on wikipedia at the moment if it become notable later it can be added again but right now i say no. Weaponbb7 (talk) 04:28, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This is essentially a government agency. Government-owned. If the Department of Motor Vehicles does not get itself into trouble or is not otherwise in the news, it doesn't get mentioned? It is through agencies like this that most social service tax dollars are spent in Vermont. There is no alternative. Student7 (talk) 23:18, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Essentially a government agency"

[edit]

There are similarities to a Children's Aid Society (Canada) in Ontario, Canada, which get substantially all of their funding from the Ontario government, but which have their own board of directors and their own employees who are not part of the civil service. - Eastmain (talk) 19:07, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

All of the above arguments still apply. It is a normal government agency which supplies money and jobs to that area. I agree it is not a headline-worthy phenomena. It is simply one of many "hidden" government agencies in Vermont which, like most New England states, does not have an effective County Government, under which this might fall. Without this article, it stays part of the "hidden" government which runs the area. IMO government should not be "hidden." I have no other ax to grind other than that one: all government should have articles. Student7 (talk) 16:16, 25 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
