Notability

[edit]

@Fivespicestudios Hi there! Thank you for writing this article. I am worried that it may not meet our guidelines for notability, which determine what subjects should have an article on the English Wikipedia. The requirement is generally three sources that provide significant coverage of the subject and are independent of the subject (WP:GNG has all the details). I currently believe sources 1 and 2 [1][2] meet these requirements, but haven't been able to find a third. Do you have another suitable source? Toadspike talk 20:11, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there unfortunately it looks like my work has disappeared, but yes there was at least a third one - the link to the Resident Advisor page I had posted https://ra.co/reviews/29137 which has its own wikipedia page and is a reputable source in electronic music. Is there anyway I can go back to the page I created? Fivespicestudios (talk) 21:48, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Fivespicestudios: Your work did not disappear. I have just moved the article to One Child Policy (musician). GTrang (talk) 21:59, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah okay thank you for pointing that out. Fivespicestudios (talk) 22:59, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And then, the article has been draftified by Justiyaya. GTrang (talk) 23:10, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hiya GTrang, Fivespicestudios, and Toadspike. I didn't notice the discussion here, apologies and thanks for the ping.
My assessment of it is that while both sources does appear to be reliable and independent, both contains limited biographical coverage. Looking at the sources, mixmag places the subject on a list with thirty other artists and gives him two short paragraphs and the magneticmag source has almost half the prose as quotes from the subject. I didn't find anything right away with a quick search so I drafitifed.
I think two more reliable sources providing significant coverage would be best for the article. Note that sources in other languages are good to use if there are any. Feel free to submit the page with the blue button and a reviewer will come look over it. Justiyaya 01:42, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I just submitted another draft with another online source I found and also from Mixmag's Printed Magazine back in 2017 that I have in front of me. I used to read all of them, but I don't believe they are catalogued online. Fivespicestudios (talk) 06:14, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I could scan it as an asset if you'd like - I'm not sure what the procedure is here. It is a review giving it an 8/10 on behalf of Mixmag Editorial. Fivespicestudios (talk) 06:18, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Fivespicestudios I'd be happy to review it if you have one additional source outside of that one (it would be borderline with it assuming it contributes to WP:GNG). If Toadspike or GTrang have some time I would love a second opinion too in case I'm wrong with the analysis above. Justiyaya 07:35, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That "ra.co" source doesn't look like significant coverage to me, but the new Dutch source is helpful. If Fivespice can find and cite that offline Mixmag source I would support this draft being approved. Toadspike [Talk] 10:11, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay I have the offline Mixmag source but how should I share it? scan it and upload it as an image to the wikipedia server? 76.168.106.141 (talk) 21:30, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Xiaobb: I'll be happy to look over it if you'd like to email it to me. I think I lean a bit more on the safe end of reviewing though so won't guarantee that I can. Justiyaya 23:16, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I did a scan here

https://ibb.co/8gJqdZF Xiaobb (talk) 23:52, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'd add the URL into the article and ask for a review through the button
I don't think I'll be confident accepting Justiyaya 10:57, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So edit those pictures with the "ibb.co..." url, then reupload them to ibb.co ? Xiaobb (talk) 03:47, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've just re-requested review while using internet archive instead. Xiaobb (talk) 23:36, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I didn't see this. Can you disclose a conflict of interest first? I'm quite sure that you have one (the email I sent you explains why). Justiyaya 04:18, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, like this? User:Xiaobb Xiaobb (talk) 22:58, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've added a COI box on the top of the page and submitted the draft for you Justiyaya 05:00, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Is there any next step? Was looking forward to drafting more musician articles. Xiaobb (talk) 03:17, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I also submitted one on the Taiwanese musician Sonic Deadhorse, I was going to do more but I thought I'd get at least one approved to learn the whole process. Xiaobb (talk) 19:07, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
