Requested move 14 August 2015[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: moved. Clearly the current title is unsuitable and no one has objected to the proposed title. No prejudice against further discussion about other variants. Jenks24 (talk) 10:01, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Palena/General Vintter LakeVintter Lake – The current either/or name is not in accordance with Wikipedia policy concerning article titles, specifically it fails the requirements for Naturalness (The title is one that readers are likely to look or search for and that editors would naturally use to link to the article from other articles.) and Conciseness (The title is no longer than necessary to identify the article's subject and distinguish it from other subjects.). The guidelines at Wikipedia:Naming conventions (geographic names)#Multiple local names recommends that where none of the standard tests indicate which of two name is more widely used in English, that editors should choose a single name, by some objective criterion, even a somewhat arbitrary one. I suggest Vintter Lake. "Palena Lake" has only 2/3rds the Goggle hits on "Lake Vintter", and "Lago Vintter" is used by some Chilean websites, such as http://www.lavaguada.cl/reportajes/rio-patagonia/rio-patagonia-chile.htm. The form "Vintter Lake" is based upon 10x more Google hits for "Lago Vintter" over "Lago General Vintter", also "Vintter Lake" has 3x the Google hits of "Lake Vintter", and is five times more common than "General Vintter Lake". (2649 Google hits to 441 when I ran it.) For some examples of the English language usage of "Vintter Lake", see [1], [2] and [3].  -- Bejnar (talk) 17:12, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Strong rename to something. The current title violates WP:AT and WP:SLASH, and makes it appears as a WP:SUBPAGE and all the concomitant problems that has with talk pages. We do not pair names into titles, we select one or the other. -- 67.70.32.190 (talk) 05:30, 15 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
