It is hard to tell if this article is true, or if it is just an unproven theory Xexos 21:47, 1 June 2007

The lead of an article should make such a thing apparent - I've added a sentence to clarify it. violet/riga (t) 22:37, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

why is this even a page —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.230.152.120 (talk) 01:33, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Have to agree, what I get out of this article is "150 years ago a conman used a couple of snails to get a year of free room and board". It doesn't appear to have any widespread cultural or scientific significance, just an amusing anecdote that managed to get passed on for a hundred-odd years. I'm inclined to think this one should be put up for removal, but I don't know if it satisfies deletion criteria. ~ Eidako (talk) 23:00, 22 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Because the world would be a better place if this article didn't exist... violet/riga [talk] 23:39, 24 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No, leave it in. Those who forget 150 year old snail-based scams are doomed to repeat them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.96.50.113 (talk) 04:06, 2 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It is silly and amusing but also speaks to the history of (failed) science and culture. I'd leave it in. Tom.jennings (talk) 21:11, 6 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
