This article is under the wrong name. He was always known professionally, publicly, and by his friends as Pat Patrick. Laurdine was his real first name, but he rarely used it. Also, although I know his son's fame has far outstripped his own, and some mention of his personal life with his son should be stated here, Pat Patrick was an important, respected, and innovative jazz musician with a long performing and recording career. So it's curious that there's only a couple of lines here about his professional career and few paragraphs about his son.MingusMingus (talk) 08:55, 11 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with MingusMingus's comments above. I have a dozen record albums featuring him, all refer to him as "Pat" and I had never heard the name Laurdine previously. I also agree that it's important to keep the focus of this article on Pat, not on his son (who has his own Wikipedia page).

An aside: I suspect that over time Pat may well return to being much more famous than his son. How many remember who the Governor of Massachusetts was in 1946? While jazz recordings and players of that era are still topics of interest to many fans.

MingusMingus and ZeroXero: agreed, so I've moved the page. Both AllMusic and Grove Music use "Pat Patrick", in case anyone thinks we're making this up. EddieHugh (talk) 19:06, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
