[edit]>"However, it is not proven that Messmer invented the cat and a satisfactory answer has not been given for the matches to Sullivan's lettering and art in work after his opponents had gone to great lengths to exclude him from."
I'm tempted to remove this sentence because it's making my eyes cross, but it seems like it contains important information. Can we break this up into a couple of clear sentences?
And I'd remove the "Achievements" section because it really only tells us that he named the cat "Felix". That doesn't merit its own section, it ought to be mentioned in the main article. Being a tenacious fighter for your own intellectual property isn't an achievement.
I'm going to clean up the "creations" section and make it a proper list. And I'm removing the "delightful" descriptor from one of the characters; that's a subjective description and thus doesn't belong, delightful though he may be. Brymc210 (talk) 23:37, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
What has this steer and sneer got to to do with the creation of Felix the Cat, It is mostly hearsay. Sullivan carried a strong bias against African Americans, which his employees found as detestable as his pedophilia and alcoholism. According to Rudy Zamora, when he and Eddie Salter tested for positions at the Sullivan studio, they were bested by a young African American boy. Zamora recalled that animator Dana Parker “took the black boy [aside] and told him that they’ll call him when they needed him, [as they were] not hiring anyone that day. But they kept Eddie and I. That was lousy. Then they would have hired this black guy and myself. Ed was third.” When Zamora complained about this to Parker, he was told, “The old man (Sullivan) didn’t want any black guys.” Great idea jerry (talk) 04:44, 16 February 2016 (UTC)
Studio name?
[edit]>"Sullivan decided to start his own studio and made a series called ‘Sammy Johnsin’, based on a Marriner strip on which he had worked."
What was the name of his studio? Please add to article. Rissa, Guild of Copy Editors (talk) 23:12, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
