The Patiriella gunnii article refers to a 2003 paper which identifies Patiriella brevispina as a junior synonym of Patiriella gunnii (Gray, 1840), while the Patiriella gunnii of various authors, which is what is described in that article, is composed of 3 other species (P. medius, P. occidens and P. oriens).
