"It is not known whether or not he was inspired by the name of the American railroad, Amtrak, as interviews with the author have been removed from the Internet. Mr. Tilley may be involved in a trademark issue with the railroad."

It is known, or at least it was. It was implicity implied in the books as well, although revealing why/how would be a plot spoiler. -Bastion

Over at the The Amtrak Wars article, it says Tilley said "there was never any problem with the US rail company over the use of the name". -Wootery 11:58, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
