Accuracy

[edit]

Things to check:

  • is this a conservative neighbourhood (and for which definition of conservative)?
  • do dogs truly deter people from walking, and is this causal to obesity?
  • for that matter, are people in the hamlet obese?

Here are the answers to some of the questions that Mindmatrix asked on this discussion page.

1. By the term "conservative neighbourhood," I mean a neighbourhood where moral values from the 1950s (husband is considered absolute owner of all marital property) and where businesses almost never change hands from one family to another. Looking at it on hindsight, I realize now that "patriarchal neighbourhood" might be better word to describe it.

2. Yes, dogs to deter people from walking because they tend to prey on human beings. Although they have regular rabies innoculations, they often run loose on Pine Grove's streets, which inhibits people from walking, and in time, makes them overweight.

Regarding Massive Deletion of Material From The Article

[edit]

It seems a little 'heavy-handed' to me to just simply sweep in on an article about a tiny community, put together almost exclusively by a single editor and delete most of its contents without any prior discussion or the placement of any warning templates beforehand. If the editor who did that has "issues" regarding the overall quality of an article, perhaps they could start by discussing them here first and placing an appropriate template or two before "wiping out" most of the contents in one go. Do you know this particular editor's history? He is well know for adding OR, NPOV, and total falsehoods to every article he makes. Many of his articles have been culled in a similar fashion. You'll see warning after warning on his talk page. This is the second time such content was removed from this particular article. Unless, of course, you actually believe most of that stuff he added or think it qualifies as encyclopedic content. AnmaFinotera (talk) 06:59, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
