[edit]

While this is an impressive start, many details need further referencing or clarifications.

  • "since Bobola continued to stimulate anti-Russian sentiments in Poland..." - close to three centuries after his death? Certainly not personally :) This should be clarified :)
  • "Polish President Ignacy Mościcki led the ceremonies with a flaming nationalist speech" - non-neutral phrasing, requires at least a direct quotation (here or in the article)
  • "The Polish Communist Party was forced to disband on Bobola day June 17, 1938". Bobola day = an anniversary? Was there a relation? The text does not indicate one?
  • "Oriental Catholic Orthodox Churches... found their churches and institutions vandalized by Polish authorities as well" - authorities usually don't vandalize churches. Perhaps it was supposed to have been mobs, not authorities? This needs at least a direct quotation, here or in the article. And what is an "Oriental Catholic Orthodox Church"?
  • overall, the Bobola affair should be split off and summarized or at the very least duplicated in article on Andrew Bobola and to Polish-Russian relations/Polish-Soviet relations (once they are written). The details of Polish unrest are not very relevant here. The only relation to Pius is that he canonized him and sent his remains to Poland; which caused some tension in Polish-Soviet relations; can expand on the crisis between Vatican/Pius and Soviets caused by this (I gather he was quite anti-communist)?
  • Polish Wikipedia in pl:Papież_Pius_XII#Zwi.C4.85zki_z_Polsk.C4.85 states that Pius directly asked Poland to agree to the German demands, this is important - it should be verified and referenced here
  • "Poland felt safe" - was this after the Polish-British alliance was signed? It should be mentioned so; so should Polish-French alliance. Further, Polish ambassador statement should be clarified with the information that the anti-Polish part of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact was a secret clause unknown to Poland (see MRP for info and ref on that).
  • "transmissions in Polish, Lithuanian and other local languages in the occupied areas" - areas occupied by Germans, or by Germans and Soviets both? Lithuania was not occupied until 1940, a year after the invasion of Poland
  • "During World War Two, the Vatican spent more political and diplomatic efforts on Polish matters, than any on other nation in the world." - this is a very strong claim and needs very strong referencing, with quotations here or in the article!
  • "occupied Poland, renamed “Warthegau” by the Germans" - this is an error, Reichsgau Wartheland was only a small part of occupied Poland; the General Government was the largest - see Polish areas annexed by Nazi Germany for more details
  • Polish losses section - does it count only losses inflicted by the Nazis, or by the Soviets as well? This is not clear! The section should also be split off and summarized of duplicated in some other articles (ex. treatment of Polish citizens by the occupiers)
  • "After the arrest of the Cardinal, Communist authorities support patriotic priests, who aspire a separation from Rome" - patriotic? PAX Association? Rather "NKVD/UB-led". and "duped"..
  • overall, there is some tense confusion (present and past), and what is said by given letters / speeches is not clear from what is said by references (quotation marks are missing, statements are not clearly attributed).--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 19:23, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps the very interesting 'Polish Influence in the Vatican' and 'Concordat' sections would belong better to a new article on Polish-Vatican relations? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 19:31, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, how are you -:))

I was thinking about this, but, I also think that the spotty info gives some insight and may be useful for an overall understanding of Vatican attitudes towards Poland. Maybe they can be shortened a bit later.

I completed several articles prior to this article on Apostolic letters and enclicals regarding Poland. I just mention them here, expecting that the friendly reader will push the blue button for more details.

I think they should be categorized, perhaps Category:Holy See-Poland relations would be useful? PS. Do note that we have split off Concordat of 1925 into a separate article. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 22:01, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

B-class review

Close, but 1) no pictures 2) too many bullet points and 3) some unreferenced sentences/para prevent this from passing. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 10:55, 21 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
