[edit]User:Wololoo was correct on moving the article (edit summary: "Popular Construction means "Costruzione popolare", the most accurate translation is Construction Yard"), but was it really necessary? And wouldn't "Popular construction site" be better? --Checco (talk) 07:38, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
- I prefer the original translation, FWIW. (Incidentally, "Construction Yard" is North American English.)--Autospark (talk) 15:27, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
- I also prefer the former translation. (I like American English, by the way.). Let's return to the original name. --Checco (talk) 15:38, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Checco If I understood, "Construction site" has a predominantly building meaning (practically: cantiere edilizio"). Searching on the internet, it seemed to me that the most general term with univocal translation was "Construction Yard", while the only word "Yard" also means "cortile". Even "construction" does not have a univocal translation. I think that the English name should have a unique meaning; maybe I am wrong, but it doesn't seem to me that "Popular Construction" really reproduced the Italian meaning...--Wololoo (talk) 21:23, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
- Sometimes translations are tricky. However, I would follow the suggestion by User:Autospark, the only native speaker here, and I would go back to the previous name: "Popular Construction" may not be 100% correct, but it sounds definitely better than "Popular Construction Yard" (or "Site", for that matter). Other opinions are much welcome! --Checco (talk) 21:44, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
- The translation "Popular construction" seems to me a few misleading, but I could be wrong. I honestly don't know if the translation "Popular construction" can actually make the idea of the original name, the right translation of "Cantiere" in this case is effectively complicated, the previous name may also be more correct than "Popular Construction Yard".--Wololoo (talk) 23:26, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
- Yeah, indeed. Let's go back to the previous name. --Checco (talk) 09:00, 16 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Autospark do you think that "Popular Construction" make the idea of the original name? Because honestly I did not understand one thing: Is "construction" used also as a generic term?--Wololoo (talk) 22:03, 16 January 2019 (UTC)
- In English, "construction" can be a noun on its own, so that's why I favour the previous article title.--Autospark (talk) 16:27, 19 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Autospark Ok, but I meant another thing, that is, if "construction" can be used as a generic term (for example, "construction of ideas" or a "political construction") or is it only a purely physical or building term. --Wololoo (talk) 11:02, 20 January 2019 (UTC)
- Yes, the word construction can be used generically like that.--Autospark (talk) 15:25, 21 January 2019 (UTC)
- Ok, perfect.--Wololoo (talk) 16:56, 21 January 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks, User:Wololoo, for moving the article back and taking care of the redirects. --Checco (talk) 07:49, 23 January 2019 (UTC)

Popular Construction → Popular Construction Site – I had already noticed that the translation used as the title of this page was not correct, indeed "Popular Construction" is the literal translation of "Costruzione Popolare", not of "Cantiere Popolare". After some research, I found that in the political context the Italian word "Cantiere" is translated to "Construction site" (see "political construction site"), so the correct translation would be "Popular Construction Site". However I have not found any English language sources for this party. Alternatively it would be better to use the original name (Cantiere Popolare) than the current one. - Move to Cantiere Popolare. Can't see any evidence that this party's name is commonly translated into English. That fact that no one seems to know how to translate the name just confirms this. We don't translate to English for the sake of it. See WP:UE. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:31, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
