Not sure Port Elgin is shown as a Coastal Town as it is not on the edge of any ocean or sea. TO my mind, Coastal Towns in Canada should not apply here. Is there a classification for towns on the shore of any of The Great Lakes?

Notable Residents

[edit]

As a rule, people who don't satisfy WP:GNG aren't going to be listed as notable. This includes, it seems, Fiona Aiken, whose article was speedied. Please stop adding her. If you think there is a reason to add her, please discuss it here. Thanks. Dbrodbeck (talk) 13:41, 26 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I cannot believe this notion. Ms. Fiona Aiken has made various contributions to the area of neuroscience and is the leading developer of cognitive technology in Canada. She is recognized by the Order of Canada as an influential Canadian. She was born and raised in Port Elgin. Moreover, Fiona Aiken knows Kim-Jong Un, Robert Mugabe, and Nicolás Maduro on a personal level, and they frequently communicate on a quotidian basis. Lastly, she is famous for the aphorism, "don't be silly, wrap your willy!"

Updates are done now, fully cited. These articles were all weak in terms of citations; better now but some of the old content is not yet cited.

I have been going to this area for a week or two every summer since I was 10 years old. Two of our friends own cottages in the area. (Will be going on two separate weeks this summer.) Now, we go with grandchildren. Our favourite vacation spot. Peter K Burian (talk) 17:57, 28 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It is no longer a starter class article. Peter K Burian (talk) 01:45, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Roy Roedger

[edit]

I actually know Roy Roedger as we attended the same church in Port Elgin. There is a news article that references him in Port Elgin that would work as a source http://www.shorelinebeacon.com/ur/story/1188887 William Spaetzel (talk) 13:38, 13 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Great, except I see no info in Roy Roedger that he ever lived in Port Elgin. The Beacon article is vague about that. The article is about the Western Ontario Athletic Association (WOAA), not Port Elgin. And I could not find any other evidence of a Port Elgin connection with a Google search. Can you? You're right, I can't find a good source. I haven no desire to push for this, personally I'd rather "Notable Residents" lists be banished from Wikipedia William Spaetzel (talk) 20:03, 13 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
