Quake 2, 3, 4...

Does they use QuakeWorld-like Multiplayer code? If so, what means Quake4World? If not, why not, since the code is simply better than the original? Why going back to the old bad code? 201.72.158.157 01:52, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Quake's 2 and 3 do. Look at the Quake Engine family tree on this page: Quake engine. Quake 4 uses the Doom 3 engine and John Caramck completely rewrote the network code for that.

Quake4World

Quake4World was a mod of Quake4 to emulate QuakeWorld physics, not netcode. If I recall correctly, there was a single cvar which modulated how much air control there was, as well as a Q4 port of Q1's DM4. --!phil 38.105.219.3 (talk) 12:31, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
