Discrepancy
[edit]After the first world war, These locos were loaned to the private railway companies while these companies refurbished their existing locos in the post war period. Later they were sold to these companies (and abroad). In the case of the GWR, I suspect that the original 20 were loaned (probably purchased later)? FreeFlow99 (talk) 08:38, 19 May 2024 (UTC)
- @FreeFlow99: Again, that's very much an oversimplification, see GWR 3000 Class. The greatest number was bought by the LNER (see LNER Class O4), and a fair number were bought by the LMS (see LMS ex-ROD 2-8-0). Unfortunately, both of the latter two articles are short on detail. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 10:17, 19 May 2024 (UTC)
Early withdrawal
[edit]The GWR acquired their second batch of the locos in 1925, but withdrew 25 of these (lot 240) in 1927...1930, some of these served for as little as 28 months. Does anyone know why they were withdrawn so soon after being acquired? My source is Steam for Scrap ISBN 9 780906 899519 page 34. FreeFlow99 (talk) 08:52, 19 May 2024 (UTC)

Proposed merge of LMS ex-ROD 2-8-0 into ROD 2-8-0
[edit]Not really noteworthy to have the LMS engines be their own separate page, and it's too short. EditorGirlAL07 (talk) 10:39, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- Merge. I wouldn't even leave a redirect as LMS ex-ROD 2-8-0 isn't the clearest name. Andy Dingley (talk) 14:08, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- I would like to suggest leaving a redirect at LMS ex-ROD 2-8-0 to preserve its page history. EditorGirlAL07 (talk) 20:53, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
