I listened to Radio Tirana in Scotland from the mid-1980s until 1992, and I have never heard of "Radio One Tirana". There is only one mention on the Internet of this alleged service. Personally, I doubt that Radio Tirana had the capacity to broadcast such a black propaganda service aimed primarily at the United Kingdom. I have therefore deleted all references to this, as I believe that the entry is bogus. Please feel free to add this information if you can provide any concrete evidence of the existence of "Radio One Tirana". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 1973beijinger (talkcontribs)

Well, I actually listened to this hysterical service, and have, as noted in the sources, access to a primary source about it (although a primary source isn't much use to Wikipedia, I admit... and I'd hoped for it to become a lot more secondary by now... but there we go). You're right about there being little online about it, but there's plenty in appropriate books - it was well documented at the time. I have a few candidates here, so given enough round tuits, I'll put the two items you removed back with sources. The point you were listening is well after Radio One Tirana's time, BTW: the period in question was 1968 until 1978, and there's no question about "capacity" - mediumwave radio is prime for this type of thing.
And, whilst we're here: welcome to Wikipedia, and please sign your posts on talk pages. Thanks! ЯEDVERS 18:55, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the information, I stand corrected... Is there any way you could make any recordings of this service available online, it would be fascinating to hear it. My formative years were spent listening to cold-war propaganda from the likes of Radio Tirana, Radio Prague, Radio Berlin International etc. How times have changed! All we have of that ilk today is Voice of Korea from Pyongyang!! It's no comparison! Best regards, 1973beijinger

Radio channels

[edit]

Are Radio Tirana 3 and Radio Tirana International (listed separately in the article) not, in fact, one and the same thing? -- Picapica (talk) 10:55, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Name

[edit]

Isn't it better not to include the "(broadcasting)" definition from the name? It seems no other article can be confounded with RTSH. Something like RAI for example.Bes-ARTTalk 14:52, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I thought its more suitable but I am not against to remove the definition.--Lorik17 (talk) 14:58, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The BBC, RAI and others use only abbrv, others use the name in native language. So I don't know what's the best but only abbrv seems better.Bes-ARTTalk 15:07, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:DAB, "(broadcaster)" should not be included because there is only one page named RTSH. The page needs to be moved via WP:RM. Grk1011 (talk) 17:57, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Seeing no further discussion, I have now requested this be moved via WP:RM. Grk1011 (talk) 02:56, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
