Inconsient?[edit]

"The station's playlist includes popular Arabic, English and Spanish songs so as to attract the inconsient Arabic listener."

What exactly is meant by "inconsient"? Do you mean "inconscient", i.e. the Arabic listener who does not know that this is a US-funded station? Is that an objective statement, or does it imply that those Arabs who know that it is US-funded, would not listen to it?

independence?[edit]

I have a major problem with the wording here: 'an independent agency of the U.S. government, such that staff are not civil servants under direct government control.' I strongly disagree with using the word 'independent' to describe an agency in a country currently occupied by [mostly] American soldiers. Unless someone voices some strong criticism to by stance, I will edit it within the next few days Paskari 22:23, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

With respect, I do not understand. The quotation is using "independent" as a description of Sawa's status WITHIN the bureaucratic structure of the US government. Certainly it's not trying to suggest that it's independent OF the US government, an independent radio station, when what it says is exactly that it is an agency of the US government. So I don't really understand the relevance of the American soldiers in Iraq. Mediumwave transmissions ended 2019[edit]

Hi, the transmissions from Cap Greco transmitter in Cyprus targeted to the middle east site ended in 2019 and the antenna was demolished in late 2021. To my knowledge, the transmissions were not shifted to another transmitter site, but this need to be verified (I don'd speak arab to understand their website), on the page, there is no transmitter site stetd, but I think mediumwaves as propagation channel should be deleted.
