Raleigh is said to be the 3rd most frequented Amtrak station in the Southeast, behind Sanford (FL) and Orlando. But it had 192,434 passengers in 2011. That's more than Wikipedia gives for Orlando (which is in the 170-thousands). It would be incredible if Raleigh were the 2nd busiest station in the Southeast. It's usually pretty quiet (but it sure was busy when I was there tonight!). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.178.173.118 (talk) 02:48, 31 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The new Raleigh Union Station is about to open as the Amtrak Station (scheduled for June 4, 2018). As of that date, what to do? Either: Merge this article and redirect its link to the new Raleigh Union Station or redirect the URL to the new station, but keep this article separate as coverage of the "Southern Railway Raleigh Station" or something? Most of what is on this article is already on Raleigh Union Station article. On June 4th, 2018 I anticipate this article to change to a simple redirect to Raleigh Union Station and whatever is not transferred over yet will be at that time. If there was substantial amount of information, we could split into a different article, but as of now incorporating all predecessor stations in the Raleigh Union Station History section should suffice (I looked for examples how other stations handled multiple historic stations and this was the best method I found). I can update the wikicommons images to "Southern station" and add a link to Raleigh Union Station, so nothing will be lost. --WashuOtaku (talk) 15:50, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This article was set to redirect to Raleigh Union Station on July 10, 2018. --WashuOtaku (talk) 21:53, 10 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
