may want to merge with Tha Carter III article[edit]

Unitl the actual album is released it should be merged with Tha Carter III article.Xx1994xx (talk)

why? THAD GETS NO ASS because the album may not follow notability guides according to wikipedia and will either be merged or deleted and this album is more like another deluxe version of tha carter iii so until the album comes out and prove its notability it needs to be merged.Xx1994xx (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 03:00, 2 November 2008 (UTC).

Redundant and unreliable sources[edit]

I removed the following sources from the article; my reasoning for removal appears below.

  • [1] — Redundant—sourced from the MTV article
  • [2] — Redundant—sourced from the MTV article
  • [3] — One short paragraph that says he's reissuing Tha Carter III with "some new songs" and that he's having a baby soon.
  • [4] — Redundant—a mirror of the Billboard article
  • [5] — Redundant—mirror of the Billboard article
  • [6] — Redundant—content about the album is sourced from the MTV article
  • [7] — Same article as above
  • [8] — Redundant—sourced from the MTV article
  • [9] — Redundant—sourced from the MTV article
  • [10] — Not a reliable source and content is redundant with other, better refs
  • [11] — Sourced from what Lil Wayne said onstage at a show—not a reliable source. In any case, again, it's redundant anyway and contradicts other information in the article (that The Rebirth is the Tha Carter III plus exclusive bonus tracks—not all new tracks)
  • [12] — Redundant—sourced from MTV
  • [13] — MTV

Just so's you know. —Hello, Control Hello, Tony 15:05, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

First of all whoever is adding Lil'Chucky,Cory gunz and hurricane to the list of people on the a milli remix STOP one of the referneces that HelloControl removed only confirmed that Tyga and Lil Mama.Xx1994xx (talk)

Kanye West[edit]

yoooo, I was brought here from the WP:AIV and WP:AN3 reports. The sticking point appears to be this issue. Is there any evidence of Kanye West's role as producer other than this Youtube video: [14]? I agree that the video does not appear to be the most reliable of sources -- Samir 06:52, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello, and thank you. Firstly, I would like to state I do not feel that I am right nor wrong.
I have edited many "upcoming albums" pages and not one that I have ever edited has used a list to list the producers. According to the current sources, Only Cool & Dre are confirmed while the others are possible, which is what I have stated. Also, the "A Milli Remix" has been rumored, not confirmed, which is what is written. If reliable, third-party sources can be found, I would be more than happy to add them myself, but it does not appear that is the case, which why I have reverted. I also realize that I have broken the 3RR, and if anything is in order, I will take it and I apologize. I have just gone by what I feel is right by Wikipedia policy. --HELLØ ŦHERE 07:01, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

he talks about it at 4:20, "new wayne special package incoming before this christmas is out and we got a new record on there together"

why is it that if kanye would have said this on mtv, it would be valid, but since he said it during a def jam conference call, it's invalid? that makes no sense. like i said before, all mtv does is takes what an artist says and compiles it into an article. the video of him saying it is just as reliable as an mtv article. 11:11, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

It is not just MTV that is reliable. But this is an illegal version of that phone call. If any reliable third-party source had a story about this phone conversation, it would be acceptable. And a quick Google search I conducted within the last week brought no other reliable sources besides MTV, but if you have any that are reliable sources, please feel free to add them. --HELLØ ŦHERE 22:36, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

reliable and illegal are two different things. recording the call may have been illegal, but it is not illegal to post about the recording. freedom of the press. cubfan789 (talk) 07:21, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Even still, we cannot use an illegal copy of the phone call. If Def Jam posts it, or someone reliable speaks about it in an interview or something of that nature, we can use it. --HELLØ ŦHERE 20:48, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

like i said, IT IS NOT ILLEGAL TO USE ILLEGALLY OBTAINED INFORMATION. it is perfectly legal under the united states constitution. obviously the information is reliable too, unless you believe he was lying to all those people.

Yelling does not make you right, nor will it get people to agree with your point. Secondly, not every Wikipedian editor is an American. Thirdly, the U.S. constitution doesn't really matter on Wikipedia as they have their own guidelines. --HELLØ ŦHERE 21:16, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

you know what, i dont even feel like arguing you. you points are just so stupid. so whatever, you win.

It's not about "winning", it's about doing what's right by the guidelines and standards of Wikipedia. Your arguments would be correct on a Lil Wayne forum, but on this site they are not the standards and rules we apply. --HELLØ ŦHERE 22:52, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

my version follows every guideline. i dont know what youre talking about

The list of producers is not following guidelines, the YouTube source is not following guidelines, nor does listing songs which are not confirmed such as the A Milli remix. --HELLØ ŦHERE 22:55, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Using list format instead of prose format[edit]

Per this section of the Wikipedia Manual of Style, we should not use lists when a passage is read easily as plain paragraphs. A brace of bulleted lists on possible producers and tracks instead of rendering the information in prose form goes against this guideline. —/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 10:57, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

there are a couple problems with your suggestion to follow this guideline

  • 1. this list is incomplete and it's going to be added onto in the near future.
  • 2. the sentences are redundant and will become more redundant as the list gets bigger.
  • 3. it's going to end up being a list anyway once more information is added.

also side note, a lot of jpgrb's grammar is incorrect in the article. i was trying to fix that too.Fuk u ass hole

so whats the conclusion? 07:20, 18 December 2008 (UTC)07:20, 18 December 2008 (UTC)~

I would presume the "conclusion" is to follow the guidelines of Wikipedia. Which, as pointed out above, says we should not use the list, and to use prose. --HELLØ ŦHERE 03:29, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

strictly following that wikipedia guideline would mean cd singles would have to be listed in a paragraph rather than a list. obviously there are exceptions to the rule.

What articles are you using as examples? Every "CD single" I've seen uses prose as opposed to lists. --HELLØ ŦHERE 21:17, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Anyone think Red Rum's gonna be on here? Cool & Dre Produced it, I'm just wondering... Also, I heard this is going to be a "Rock" or "rock - type" album or something like that. this should be good. —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 21:01, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Tha Carter III: The Rebirth Vs Rebirth[edit]

So apparently there are two album articles now. One is this one, and the other is just called Rebirth. Lil Wayne just released the title, and its just called Rebirth. So I don't know if you guys want to change this article title or what.

Zypo (talk) 06:24, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

I think it should be moved to the Rebirth article, since Tha Carter 3 re-release isn't going to happen. John (talk) 17:44, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

I agree. He even said its gonna be an all-rock LP, and that it has nothing to do with Carter III, or his other hip hop releases. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zypo (talkcontribs) 18:22, 24 January 2009 (UTC) NEW JOINT FROM THE ALBULM LEAKED CALLED "FIX MY HAT"

Hot Revolver[edit]

Is it possible to mention the song "Hot Revolver" on here? The song was posted on Kanye's blog. It's obvious the song is going to be on the new album. [15] Douglasr007 (talk) 02:41, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

This is one thing i really hate about wikipedia. Most of their bullshit members and administraters are so lazy, they never do anything but reverts. They can't look up the info theirselves, they need other ppl to show them proof. It's called google, find a source that does fit your bogus Three guidelines. [2] There's your realiable resource. Stop being so damn lazy and look up the proof yourselves once in a while. -- (talk) 22:05, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

Rage moar pl0x. The Rap Basement link is a blog source that violates Wikipedia's reliable source policy. Also it references Amazon UK as a source which is also an unreliable source. The album has been pushed to Febuary 1, 2010 and so I doubt a track listing that hasn't even been confirmed by Universal Records is legit. The collaboration with Eminem has been confirmed by MTV. But that is not enough support to assume any random track listing is real. SE KinG. User page. Talk. 22:09, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

I just saw on a lyrics site and a site that you can actually order the album from and its got a tracklisting and every thing they've written lyrics to it [[[[[ALREADY]]]]]. So whoever created this page should edit it go on find the tracklisting and write them on the page. I would if i was allowed to, but i can't and how do you create a page anyway if you can tell me please send it to me at plZ! Template:Mr. Momster -->

add to Recording and production[edit]

On the single "On Fire" produced by Cool & Dre, Lil Wayne has been said to being playing the guitar in the song.[3] Also on the song "Da Da Da" he will be playing the bass, confirmed by Cool & Dre.[4] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Npaproductions (talkcontribs) 05:28, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Drop The World feat. Eminem, Next Single?[edit]

Its been brought to my attention that the highly anticipated collaboration with Eminem and Lil Wayne will be coming out as the next single after "Da Da Da". Can anyone confirm that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Npaproductions (talkcontribs) 15:20, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Should we even bother posting the release dates?[edit]

Might as well put "undetermined" as the release date until the album actually does drop, cause so far that album's been stalled for so long that I think it's trying to beat Chinese Democracy in delays. Look, he'll go to jail soon. He won't be able to tour and promote the album. So this album may actually not see the light of day until 2011 at best. Until the announced date arrives and the album actually shows up everywhere in stores, the "release" dates shouldn't even be taken seriously. —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 02:57, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

Amazon Shipped Copies[edit]

Drop the World leaked because Amazon shipped copies out by accident and so the whole CD will soon be leaked. No doubt the track list will change by February though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 21:08, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

I did read this on Rap Radar. It seems like either the album will be moved to an earlier release or it will be pushed back further and with a completely different track listing. SE KinG. User page. Talk. 22:03, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

Should we post the current track listing, however? I can personally confirm that http://www. aceshowbiz .com/news/view/00029171.html has the track listing of the albums shipped due to Amazon's shipping error. Technically, the official release will be more-or-less a re-release, which could warrant two different articles. (talk) 01:10, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
No, because the track listing WILL change before the official release in February, and the February release will not be a re-release because the album was never "released". SE KinG. User page. Talk. 21:16, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Rock album is a stretch of the term "Rock"[edit]

Given the fact that it has been leaked, I think we can judge for ourselves the genre of music here. While many songs use guitar, only a few could even be considered for candidacy for rock songs. Using a guitar does not make it a rock song. Given the fact that few songs even come close to qualifying as rock songs, the album can not be called a rock album with a few raps songs. It is, more accurately, a rap album with a few songs (that are arguably rock songs to begin with). Calling it a rock album doesn't make it a rock album. I could call Wikipedia a social networking site, but it isn't. I could call New York a country, but it is not. Rock has distinct qualities. The most obvious problem here is that on almost every track the drums overshadow the guitar, and the guitar proceeds to play a role as a rhythm instrument. This creates a song composed musically of mainly rhythm and drums, which is not rock music. The occasional rock "solo"-esque elements appended to the beginnings of many songs hardly qualify the song to be rock when the proceeding composition is largely rap. It is only a "rock" album in as much as Lil' Wayne insists it is, and until i can make grandiose claims with no merit on Wikipedia as well, i don't see why this institutionalized form of misrepresenting facts can be allowed on Wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 01:57, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
