Would these recording formats fit better as an extension of the article on Recording Mediums? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recording_medium) They seem to be very similar articles. For the most part it seems that any physical matter that exists has been transformed into a medium for recording information. (ie. A cow's hindquarters is used to record the name of the owner) Maybe this subject would be better served by combining the articles. Thanks. - Aubrew

Goal for the page

This page should be a separate article explaining Information mapping, information encoding formats, software, data, meta data and data file formats. All references to the hardware interface should be removed. Explain why software goes beyond computing. Software is anything that is not hardware but is used with hardware, (e.g. film, tapes, records). I will write it if I get the chance. Oicumayberight 10:25, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
