Seperation of Concepts

[edit]

I propose that a new article be created for the Reichstag during the Nazi Period. There are already separate articles for the Holy Roman Empire, German Empire, and Weimar government. The Nazi Reichstag is clearly a different body. In addition, it is currently officially listed in the German Empire article, but the photos and details are mainly in the Weimar article, which is not only confusing but out of historical sequence. The articles should flow in the following way, as they do in the German Wikipedia. They can then be expanded from the corresponding German Wiki which has much more info than the English versions. The addition of the Austrian and Bund Reichstags is a smaller but important distinction that can wait until the Weimer, Empire, and Nazi content is appropriately sorted out. The disambiguation page for Reichstag should then look something like this:

  • Reichstag (legislative body)
    • Reichstag (Holy Roman Empire) 754–1806
    • Reichstag (North German Confederation) 1867-1871
    • Reichstag (Austria) 1848-48
    • Reichstag (German Empire) 1871–1918
    • Reichstag (Weimar Republic) 1919–1933
    • Reichstag (Nazi Germany) 1933–1945
  • Reichstag (building)
    • etc

Translation from the German article 10 Oct 2022

[edit]

This translations keeps almost nothing from the original English language article because too much of it was about the Nazi era Reichstag (which has its own article) and too little about the functions of the legislative body. Beyond the main German article, the translation contains small parts of the German articles on the voting system and on the election results (the electoral table) to fill in some gaps.

In the Infobox legislature, I changed the "Type" from bicameral to lower house. The bicameral body is generally referred to as the Parliament, which was composed of the Reichsrat (upper) and Reichstag (lower). I made a similar change to the Reichstag (German Empire) infobox,

Feedback always welcomed. GHStPaulMN (talk) 11:58, 10 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
