Please don't correct English spellings. The English spelling of 'rigour' with a 'u' is perfectly correct and, since Mulcaster was an Englishman, one might give him the courtesy of his accepted native spelling, which he was so keen to harmonise (with an 's').--Bhw 23:12, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Change of 'Soccer' to 'football'

[edit]

The article explicitly states that Mulcaster was responsible for coining the term 'footeball' - what this has to do with the word 'soccer' I'll never know. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ericxpenner (talkcontribs) 19:46, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions for Sources

[edit]

The History of English: A Student's Guide (Singh) would be a good start, and I think that An Introduction to Early Modern English (Gorlach) might be useful too. 129.67.20.167 (talk) 10:31, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

girolamo mercuriale

[edit]

If Mulcaster really did 'follow' Mercuriale, it would be nice to have a reference to the passage in Mulcaster's works confirming this. But if he merely had the same views, worked out independently of Mercuriale, this should be made clear. (Pamour (talk) 09:24, 29 August 2012 (UTC))[reply]
