for importance, please see link to Live 105, a pioneering radio station in the Alternative music genre. i am richard sands, and this is not meant to be self-promotion. i believe it meets wikipedias standards. Rsands9 03:59, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Self-promotion[edit]

Wikipedia is not a place for advertisement. Paul 04:01, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

i understand that. how can i change the content of this entry, which is a factual account of my history at live 105, to accomodate that standard? thank you paul. Rsands9 04:05, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Richard, I'm not sure that you can. This is not a place to toot your own horn, but to document the work of others. Paul 04:08, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, have you checked the "What Links Here" list from your page? You have a namesake, the CEO of Constellation Brands. How confusing.

Not exactly tooting, just listing history. But if someone else were to make the post, would that suffice, since this is a place to document the work of others? also can you explain the namesake comment, please? thanks again, paul. i do appreciate your time and patience. oh, i see what you mean about the "other" richard sands. Rsands9 04:15, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you can see that it's not so easy to contribute. In my view (and I'm not the one who will decide whether or not to keep your page) this site is not a directory. I trust that your work and your description of it are legit but they may still not meet the "notability" test for the site. Paul 04:20, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

yes, it does seem odd that the music director of the station, steve masters, is linked to a listing about him and that somehow meets the "notability" test for the site, but the program director (me) can not have a listing/link because i am the one suggesting it. strange indeed. well, thanks again for your help and guidance, paul. I am often surprised by what survives on this site. Once in a while I make a comment or flag a page. This is the first time that such action has led to a discussion, and I thank you for that. Paul 04:26, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
