Beta reception
[edit]The discussion around beta feedback reads a little too close to marketing spin, and potentially could fall into deceptive territory.
A cursory glance over the comments on various message boards, including the reddit community - which has been renamed to “rocksmith+ subscription complaint desk” shows that there is a not insignificant proportion of the community with misgivings about the proposed release.
At least some mention of this would help to offset the gushing tone in this article. 180.150.36.176 (talk) 17:07, 27 August 2022 (UTC)
- You need reliable secondary sourcing to support any statement around that. I'm fairly confident such exists, though. The forums and social media are unreliable per WP:USERG. Try search with the search engine at WP:VG/S. -- ferret (talk) 17:11, 27 August 2022 (UTC)
- References for alternative view
- It's difficult to find much in the way of reviews from WP:VG/S, as there really weren't that many formal reviews of the Beta. Most reviews I have been able to find have not necessarily been negative, but have reserved judgement because it's an unfinished product, or have just parroted the information from the official releases.
- Implications from delayed release
- I would point to the fact that the release was delayed past it's original planned date by over a year, to "incorporate user feedback" (ubisoft's words), suggests that the phrase "Beta reviews were generally positive" is a bit hopeful, and arguably overly positive in its language, see references below:

- Current References
- Reviewing the the current references used to justify the "generally positive" claim, none of which are from sites listed in WP:VG/S
- Reference 5: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIioDGX1NmE) Rocksmith Closed Beta review states in closing thoughts that "there isn't enough content" , while mentioning the reactions to the subscription model, suggesting its contentious reception. I would read this as being a 'hopeful' review rather than one that is decidedly 'positive'.
- Reference 6: (https://thenextweb.com/news/loving-new-rocksmith-beta-not-uninstalling-rs2014) Again, wouldn't point to this as being a generally positive review, but much more a "hopeful" review that expects the final release is nothing like the beta. "losing the ability to just pop in and start jamming without having to stop after each song and pick a new song is a borderline deal-breaker.", "the lack of bonafide guitar-driven tracks is stunning." "For now, I’ll keep Rocksmith 2014 Edition Remastered installed on my PC for the local multiplayer, seamless microphone integration, and playlists."
- Reference 7: (https://cogconnected.com/preview/rocksmith-beta-impressions/) This is just a straight up copy paste from ubisoft's media pack. This isn't really a review at all, nor does it claim to be, so not sure why this was used as a reference other than to make the claim seem more justified than it actually was?
- Other, Non-VG/S sources
- https://theriffrepeater.com/rocksmith-plus-or-minus-subscription-user-generated-content-tablature-pc-ubisoft/
- This link states "Rocksmith+ as a beta test right now is missing a lot", and speaks to the complaints about the subscription model.
- Conclusion
- In short, I think that unless better sources for the "generally positive" reception can be found, that it would make more sense not to make this claim at all. 2403:5803:1C91:0:EC13:29F4:B9BC:67C6 (talk) 04:30, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
