Here's a link to a source on his writings: http://www.gizapyramids.org/pdf%20library/hassan_asae_58_1964.pdf.

Here's a synopsis of his bio from Al Ahram: "In Egyptian Historical Annals of 1972, the late archaeologist Dr Gamal El-Din Mukhtar furnished a brief account of the life and career of this early 20th century Egyptian scholar. Born in 1886, Selim Hassan graduated in 1912 from the department of archeological studies, which Kamal Pasha had fought to introduce into the Royal College of Education. Kamal had not been so successful in his drive to ensure that graduates from this faculty could obtain work in their field, and notably in the Egyptian museum. As a result, Selim Hassan had no alternative but to join the government teaching corps, relocating several times between secondary schools in Cairo, Tanta and Assiut. It was not until 1922, 10 years after his graduation, that he was able to obtain a post as assistant curator in the Egyptian Museum..." http://weekly.ahram.org.eg/1999/461/chrncls.htm

Another bio from The American University in Cairo: "Selim Hassan (1887-1961) was one of the foremost Egyptologists of his time. After pursuing archaeological studies at the Royal College of Education, Hassan became one of the first Egyptians to secure a position as a curator at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. He later received degrees in ancient languages and religions from the Louvre and Sorbonne in Paris, and a doctorate from Vienna University. The first Egyptian to hold Cairo University's chair in Egyptology, Hassan was a prolific scholar, publishing over 170 books and articles. During his long career he was involved in many excavations throughout Egypt, including the clearance of the Sphinx and its mastabas in Giza between 1929 and 1937." http://library.aucegypt.edu/rbscl/resources/hassan.htmlPorkchopLarue (talk) 23:47, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
