Sir Douglas Mawson was was a recipient - his award is on display in the South Australian Museum. Although the wolf looks dark I assume it's made of actual silver and is tarnished, as his Antarctic activities were in the right time period (pre-WWI) and the ribbon looks like the pattern for the silver wolf award not the bronze wolf.

Could someone please link the "Silver Wolf Award" page to the "Recipients of the Grey Wolf Award" page?

Other online images of silver/bronze wolf awards show it hanging the other way - wolf head toward the viewer's left - so is the image in this article showing the award hung/worn incorrectly?
