Copy Violation
[edit]It would appear that User:LordHarris copied the majority of this article from the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography entry on Madden - copying it in such a way that in certain places continuity broken and inaccuracies appear. For example:
Wikipedia Article:
“ | In the autumn of 1919 Madden was created a baronet and granted £10,000 by a vote of parliament. He was at once appointed first and principal naval aide-de-camp to the king and was promoted Admiral of the Fleet (Royal Navy) in July 1924. | ” |
ODNB Entry:
“ | In the autumn of 1919 Madden was created a baronet and granted £10,000 by a vote of parliament, and on finally coming ashore in August 1922 he received a letter of appreciation from the Board of Admiralty for ‘the manner in which he exercised command of the Atlantic Fleet and for his services to the Royal Navy and to the Empire’. He was at once appointed first and principal naval aide-de-camp to the king and was promoted admiral of the fleet in July 1924. | ” |
The ommission is highlighted. From our article it would be reasonable to assume that Madden became First and Principle Naval Aide-de-Camp to King George V in 1919, when it didn't occur until 1922. Suggestions of what to do? I haven't the time or the inclination to clean up the mess. --Simon Harley (talk | library | book reviews) 21:00, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
- I have re-written the article removing material copied from ODNB and have also amended it to clarify that he was appointed First and Principal Naval Aide-de-Camp in 1922. Dormskirk (talk) 15:14, 11 November 2012 (UTC)
