Name
[edit]“Of snowy mountains” (?), from снежный snezhnyy “snowy” from снег sneg “snow”, and from горский gorskiy “of the mountains”, “mountaineer” from горе gore “mountain”. (The “mountains”, if that's what they are, seem half-submerged in small lakes and ponds on the Google Map satellite view. OpenStreetMap does show quite a number of escarpments around the town.) - That's another one where it's pointless to engage in original research without having a source. The "-gorsk" part, by the way, does not necessarily refer to "mountains"; it may very well stand for gorod (a town).
