MSG
[edit]i would like to know if Sofrito has MSG. My family is very allergic and we need to avoid MSG at any cost.
- From the sound of the ingredients, no. Unless you're buying it as a pre-made sauce, in which case, no idea. Rawling 17:40, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- Traditional sofrito is prepaired by yourself, with fresh ingredients. In this case it does not contain MSG.
- Onions and tomatoes are important sources of natural MSG. Therefore a sofrito contains MSG although not the added kind out of a shaker. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.56.167.215 (talk) 09:28, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
Some confusion about sofritto and sofrito
[edit]OK, this article says "Don't mix up sofrito with the Italian soffrito, which is a mirepoix!"
But then if you go to that article, it says Spanish sofrito is a sort of mirepoix as well! One of these two should be fixed.GeneCallahan (talk) 20:49, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
Chipotle
[edit]Is it important to include the fast food restaurant Chipotle here? 2602:306:32D1:7E0:11D8:9045:91E6:26C3 (talk) 03:30, 28 October 2016 (UTC)
"New World vegetables"
[edit]Tomatoes and peppers, both New World vegetables, were not cultivated in Europe until the 1540s, and are a later addition.
A citation should be provided for this; and both tomatoes and peppers are fruits, not vegetables.209.6.114.240 (talk) 02:57, 4 April 2022 (UTC)
