I think the "Guild NIAB Tank" and "Guild Maker" units should not be in this article, but in the computer game article. I also don't think they fit very well in the original Dune by the way. The descriptions sound more like "we want a teleporting tank" or "unit that can pass safely over sand, now let's think up a short background story". Shinobu 10:40, 5 May 2005 (UTC)

fully agree, they don't belong here and should they stay some work on the picture location should be done. Boneyard 15:03, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

I thought this might be of some importance. According to the website Dune - Behind the Scenes, there was to be an inclusion of a second-stage guild navigator in the David Lynch movie that would have appeared more like the description of Edric. It was not included due to budget and time constraints. --YoungFreud 11:59, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Guild of Navigators?

Can anyone find somewhere in the texts that this phrasing is actually used? It sounds odd to me, and a text file search of the original series came up empty. If not, it should be removed from the article. TAnthony 15:32, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

I searched for both "Guild of" and "of Navigators" and came up with nothing even close to this phrase. I say we zap it. --SandChigger 11:05, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Steersman

Are they also called "steersmen" or something like this?--Sonjaaa 06:48, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes, starting with Messiah; I've added a note to your inclusion of this info. TAnthony 01:28, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Emblem?

Is the emblem described in the novels? Or is it from another source? What is the source of the Spacing Guild emblem used on this page, in relation to Dune canon?--Sonjaaa (talk) 07:12, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

I've made a note in the caption that the emblem is from the video game Emperor: Battle for Dune, as noted on the image's description page. — TAnthonyTalk 07:17, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

That the emblem adorning the page is from a video game, there is no doubt, but, given that this emblem is almost identical to that in David Lynch's Dune, the question remains as to where the ultimate inspiration for it came from. Is there actually a canonical description? I remember, off-hand, something regarding no-ships and how they carried both an Ixian symbol and a Guild insignia (or a combination of the two) but I'm not exactly sure. More to the point, if it isn't canon, I'm not sure it should be on the page.--172.190.132.171 (talk) 03:09, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

Uncited/Erroneous text

I've removed this from the Description section pending citation of some source for it:

In addition to the physical deformities, the subsequent genetic change also renders Navigators unable to process oxygen. They can only survive in a spice gas environment, and would literally choke to death in open air.

What in the original books is this based on? --SandChigger (talk) 16:05, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
