WRONG INFORMATION GIVEN AT SOME SITES

I have made corrections as per factual information available in Abbottabad's old town archives and records, and various gazetteers etc, official reports etc from April to September 1853. The site for St Luke's was chosen then around January-February 1853 but there was no regular churh service here only occasional services by army or visiting chaplians/priests etc, in fact the Christian Cemetery was actually consecrated earlier (March-April 53) and later attached to St Luke's. Fundraising was initially slow, and the church authorities raised part of funds via public donations etc and then later also received larger sums by 2-3 big donors. There are at least 3-4 sites online that give this information wrongly but the actual and historical position is corrected here. There is even one site in Texas, which claims that Abbottabad town was 'founded' by 'Sir Abbot' (actually Major James Abbott, first DC, who much later became Major-General Sir James Abbott) in '1830'! Which is indeed a amazingly silly, since (a) the Punjab wasnt annexed by the British until 1849 and (b) in 1830 this area of Hazara was still under the Lahore Durbar (Ranjit Singh)! People should at least take trouble to ascertain facts by research. 39.54.247.242 (talk) 23:05, 8 May 2012 (UTC)Col M Aurangzeb Khan, Abbottabad[reply]
