Why this page
[edit]Like most articles I start, this one is on a topic I was looking for in Wikipedia, and it wasn't here. Specifically, I had always wondered what the phrase Standard Goods meant when used by NSW steam enthusiasts (I'm interested in the subject obviously but steam enthusiasts tend to be really enthusiastic so I won't claim to be in that class). They seem to know what it means... until you ask them. Then you get various confident but contradictory answers!
So when i saw an unwikified mention of Standard Goods in an article, I wikified it and found I'd just created a redlink. Bummer. So I've created a stub as well.
Is it better as a DAB? Maybe. See how and whether it develops.
Is it just a dicdef, and deletable? Obviously I don't think so, but I did ask myself the question. There's material there already that is encyclopedic, and I can't think of a better way to incorporate it into Wikipedia. When I imagine moving it to Wiktionary... No, it just does not do the job.
My hope is that it will develop into a good broad concept article, given time. Andrewa (talk) 20:05, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
