More Biography Details

I am reading "Anson's Voyage Round the World" edited by SWC Pack. The copy I have was published by Penguin in 1947. I came here hoping to learn a little more about the editor (and I did) but the Author Biography on the cover of my book contains details which overlap with what is here. Maybe someone who knows more about Pack than I do would like to merge these new facts into a revised article. I may attempt this myself at some time in the future.

Here's the text of the biography from the back cover of my book (so the biography is "at" approximately 1947)

"THE EDITOR S. W. C. Pack entered the Navy as an Instructor Lieutenant in 1927 after a brilliant career at the Imperial College of Science, where he won the John Samuel Scholarship and took First-class Honours in the London B.Sc. degree, and later wrote a thesis on original work for his M.Sc. degree. He was secretary of the Imperial College Boat Club 1926-7, and represented the Imperial College in boxing and swimming.

On returning from a commission in China the author specialised in meteorology in 1933. He was awarded the Boyle Somerville Memorial Prize for meteorology by the Admiralty in 1938.

He has travelled extensively and has written a good deal. Many of his short stories have appeared in Blackwood's Magazine; he has also written a book on weather forecasting.

The author's hobbies are gardening and sailing, and he is a member of the Royal Ocean Racing Club. He married in 1934 Miss Dorothea Rowe, of Lamerton, Devon, and has two children, a daughter and a son."

It would seem that there should be a different entry in the Bibliography (to reflect that Pack's Edit of Anson's Voyage was published in 1947 rather than 1960) but I'm not sure how to do that without duplication, while still retaining the useful reference to the Cassell edition.

Regarding the book Anson's voyage, the notes say that "the 150,000 words of the original account have been reduced by about half", so Pack did a substantial amount of work.
