Page moved to Mysore Road. Consensus was clear that the old title was not the common name. Consensus was also clear that the proposed name of Bangalore - Mysore road was not used. So we have consensus at moving without a clear target. In my opinion, consensus defaulted to the name that was used in bold in the nomination. If anyone wants to suggest an alternate name, feel free to make a new nomination. Vegaswikian (talk) 20:37, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

State Highway 17 (Karnataka)Bangalore - Mysore roadRelisted. Vegaswikian (talk) 17:20, 6 July 2011 (UTC) In Bangalore, this road is almost exclusively called as Mysore Road, and vice-versa in Mysore. SH17 is rarely used as a name for this road. To support my claim, the bus terminus there is named Mysore Road Satellite Bus Station (MCTC) Some newspaper reports: [1], [2]. Comment I'm not taking a position on which name to use, but if it's moved, it should be at one or the other names, and not a hybrid that's not in use. From the comments made by the nominator, it's either Mysore Road or Bangalore Road, but not Bangalore–Mysore Road. Now, if part of it does have the dashed name, then that could be used. If not, one or the other should be chosen with the second name a redirect. Both names should then be used in the lead with the official designation, and all three should appear in bold. If the hybrid name is used, the hyphen should be an en dash to indicate that the road travels between the two points, with a redirect from the hyphenated version. In other words, Banaglore–Mysore Road with a redirect from Banaglore-Mysore Road. Imzadi 1979  19:14, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it should be an en dash of course. Lynch7 04:53, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rename

[edit]

Mysore Road is used ONLY in Bangalore. Shouldn't the name be more standard? --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 10:44, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I see a previous discussion on the same issue. -- ♪Karthik♫ ♪Nadar♫ 15:10, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
True, but that discussion was a bit one sided based on a Bangalorean POV. Hence I suggested renaming it to the old name. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 11:14, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. It should be moved to "State Highway 17 (Karnataka)" Vijeth N Bharadwaj 17:37, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

Mysore RoadState Highway 17 (Karnataka) – The current name is biased towards Bangalore. This road is known by various other names in other towns. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 09:56, 8 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
