Location of the obelisk
[edit]Is this obelisk the one on Carysfort Avenue? If so, is it really in Stillorgan? I know everyone living around it has a Blackrock address (as do Orpen and Coppinger I believe). It's not really in Blackrock though either, but it is notable enough to be mentioned. Generalmiaow 21:30, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
This Obelisk was built in an area originaly known as Stillorgan Park. It therefor belongs to Stillorgan. Many people in Stillorgan now a days use Blackrock in their adress because that is the adress given to them by Dun Laoraigh Rathdown County Council. But, Stillorgan was there at least 600 years before Blackrock or Carysfort and so the Obelisk belongs to the village of Stillorgan.
Lovett Pearce's House still standing?
[edit]Tigh Lorcain Hall was Edward Lovett Pearce's house? Where is it? As far as I had heard it stood where Leisureplex is now.
Stillorgan Reservoir
[edit]Fenian Swine says that the Stillorgan Reservoir is in Sandyford. It is in Stillorgan, hence the name! Its entrance is off Brewery Road, Stillorgan. (Sarah777 22:51, 12 February 2007 (UTC))
- That whore Fenian Swine is simply bassing his crazy theory on fact. The reservoir is in either Leopardstown or Sandyford. It's about as much in Stillorgan as Our Ladys Grove is in Clonskeagh.--Play Brian Moore 01:57, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
I'd tend to agree there, it's quite clearly based in the SANDYFORD industrial estate. Tunney 02:02, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Actually Dave Tunney, I hate have to keep on citing facts, but it ISN'T in the Industrial Estate!! It is on the boundary of, but OUTSIDE the estate. Seapoint isn't in the sea just because it borders it.
Stillorgan Luas stop is in the SIE, but neither Stillorgan Heath and the Stillorgan Reservoir it surrounds are in the SIE.
You guys remind me a bit of St Thomas. (Sarah777 02:54, 19 February 2007 (UTC))
- Two on one here. We also have far more experience on here than you.--Play Brian Moore 11:49, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Shows how little experience counts for!! (Sarah777 21:59, 19 February 2007 (UTC))
- Stop with the exclimation marks for Pete's sake. Its against wiki policy, much as annoymous users editting is.--Play Brian Moore 01:06, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
- !!! NO !!! you CAN'T BE SERIOUS??????? I see a lot of anonymous edits (or annnonymous edittts) here, mostly vandals. What's with the 'Play Brian Moore' thing? You appear to have two separate names!!!!!!!
- Very good, I do have 2 seperate names. It is because a few uptight American tw*ts got offended by 'Fenain Swine' and blocked me. I changed my edittttttting name without changing my user name. Dont tar all IP users with the same brush.--Play Brian Moore 14:55, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Anyway, you'd be better off getting stuck in at [1] than kickin' my shins. (Sarah777 01:42, 20 February 2007 (UTC))
Perhaps a map (or two) of Stillorgan would help. Who, in the absence of the Post office, gets to decide where the boundaries are anyway? I live in Stillorgan, East of the N11 and the previous owners described their address as as Blackrock! How sad. Dublinblue (Simon in Dublin) (talk) 00:40, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
- Well, according to the Post Office, Stillorgan is in Blackrock. Myself I'd say the N11 more or less divides the two. The Carysfort Ave end of the old Stillorgan Park was always considered Blackrock; Linden is Blackrock - but John of God's was Stillorgan without doubt! I'd put the boundary along the N11, dipping east to the mini-roundabout on Stillorgan Road, passing behind John of Gods then back along the N11. Can't draw maps! -- Sarah777 (talk) 02:42, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
