May get Flagged
[edit]Your stub is likely to get flagged as being non-notable or advertising. I can't tell from what you have but you should make some attempt to find additional sources on this topic. At least try posting some search links here that you think will help us find sources independent of this person that show us why someone thinks he is important. On this talk page, even links to his own bio pages may be ok if that will let us look for reasons why others have noted him. Nerdseeksblonde (talk) 13:53, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
- well, WP:Politician says, People who have held international, national or first-level sub-national political office, including members of a legislature and judges. This is what he is. Besides, See these news stories [1] and [2]. There would be plenty more especially in Tamil language. --L I C 13:58, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
- plenty of sympathy but, meeting one or more does not guarantee that a subject should be included. I always ask, "if I found it on google would be a help or a distraction?" And, yes, often holding a given office creates a presumption of notability but it is less clear with foreign folks on english wikipedia. I'm happy to have more useful coverage of anything. - That mentions the problem bio's from people in other parts of the world- we can't just take anyone's word for it, that's the point of verififiability. You run into this with dead-tree sources in the US ( if you can't click on it it is much harder to verify, getting a physical book made of dead trees takes effort etc). I'm not even entirely sure it is a matter of bias as much as scope. That is, if a topic is notable to the intended or likely audience, is the coverage biased? There are wiki's in different languages/regions and copying one entry automatically to another doesn't seem to occur. I guess if you cold get it on an Indian wiki then it may be easier to verify here for example. Personally I'd be happy to include more obscure and remote topics but they still need to matter to someone and be verifiable. Also, the sources you have may indeed be reliable and independent but they sound like directory listings which even if they establish the person a high-level office holder may not be enough alone. Offhand, sure, I think this would be a useful addition based on what you've presented but it may need more. Nerdseeksblonde (talk) 20:36, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
- well, determining the scope of any article is going to be difficult. let us do some comparison here. Montana, population about a million and Tamil Nadu, about 66 million people with about 10% Internet usage (Can India boost internet usage?). we also have to consider the Tamil diaspora largely with Internet access. I would assume it would be roughly the same number of people clicking on both this article and the ones in Montana House of Representatives. --L I C 22:02, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
