Fair use rationale for Image:Tvtimes.jpg

[edit]

Image:Tvtimes.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Regional Issues

[edit]

I have no idea what it means when it says: "Prior to 1968, several of the regional ITV companies produced their own listings magazines"

That would suggest to me that Yorkshire Television aka YTV had a Yorkshire version of the TVTimes before the 29th July 1968, when they, and all the other regional magazines merged to become one national magazine.

Yet that can't be true as I'm looking at a November 1969 issue of the TVTimes which is clearly labelled Yorkshire.

Also the Midlands apparently had their own version of the TVTimes for Associated Television aka ATV and ABC Weekend TV aka ABC, from 1956 to 1964, yet the table says it had a TVTimes for ABC before 1968, and a TV World for ATV before July 1968.

Therefore I suspect the table must be wrong with those too. Danstarr69 (talk) 18:28, 4 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The way I read the article, before the 1968 merger, magazines called TV World, TV Post, Television Weekly and so on covered parts of the country, whereas afterwards they were all called TVTimes. ABC is listed twice, both for TV World and for TVTimes; it appears that the dates for both entries must be adjusted if the text is correct (ie TVTimes until 1964, TV World from 1964 until 1968). From the article: "Although every ITV region originally had its own version, but since 2006 there are now only four editions" - the grammar clearly needs improving, but that says that until 2006 there were separate versions of the TVTimes for each ITV region (such as your Yorkshire TVTimes) that then got merged into four editions for England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
That said, none of table or text cites a source, so finding a reliable source that confirms the information should probably be the first step. Then we can see whether text, table or both contain errors. Huon (talk) 20:56, 4 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
