Largest In Africa

[edit]

According to this article, Jumia is the largest e-commerce operator in Africa, https://www.cnbc.com/2019/04/12/the-amazon-of-africa-soars-nearly-60percent-on-its-first-day-of-trading.html, which seems to contradict the claim that Takealot.com is the country’s largest online retailer, unless there is some sort of subtlety that is not immediately apparent, in which case it should be clarified. Far better sources are needed to support such a claim. Vexations (talk) 14:14, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Vexations (talk) Please note that this is the largest in South Africa, a country within Africa. While Jumia is the largest in Africa, Takealot is the largest in South Africa itself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by {} (talk • contribs)
I think that this https://ecommercedb.com/en/markets/za/all may be a reliable source for that claim. Vexations (talk) 14:31, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Much appreciated Vexations (talk) . I have included it while also retaining the original reference as this is a news article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JasonWarnerSA (talkcontribs) 14:35, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please advise as to why the majority of the page was removed when only one source was copyrighted? The rest of the sources are not and as such your concern is not valid. If I am incorrect, please highlight which news articles are copyrighted. My understanding is that your view is that the company About Us page is copyrighted, yet you've removed almost a dozen other sources which are independent.

I am restoring in the meantime as I have replaced this reference. As an aside, this does not seem to be in the spirit of Wikipedia. I look forward to collaborating. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JasonWarnerSA (talkcontribs) 18:26, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

JasonWarnerSA, I responded on you talk page. As an aside, how does someone with 37 edits, and no clue how to indent, or sign posts, or ask before reverting know anything about the spirit of Wikipedia? The spirit does include being nice to newbies, but when you start off like a bull in a china shop, we are going to spend more time cleaning up your mess than being nice to you. Hello S Philbrick(Talk). Hope you're well. Noted and apologies for any confusion. I am in the process of updating the page for any copyright infringements, and am also adding additional source for full transparency. Please may I ask that you notify me of any glaring issues before rolling back the contact and I will fix it as a matter of priority. Thanks again for flagging the content when needed! JasonWarnerSA (talk) 07:02, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

JasonWarnerSA, I understand why you would request that, but I don't know that it will work. We get hundreds of reports every day, and go through them one after another. If there are copyright infringements, I undo them. I can't also check every single on and see if it happens to correspond to one particular editor and handle that differently than all others. Plus, I am not the only person who monitors such requests. If you are about to add something significant, and give me a heads up, I'll try to handle it specially. Hi S Philbrick(Talk) - okay, perfect! :) Will be sure to give you a heads up regarding any changes. I hope it's suitable now? JasonWarnerSA (talk) 11:42, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
