revision?

[edit]

This article needs a serious rethink. There are now one-page histories of both Taylor Woodrow and Wimpey so all that needs doing here is cross-referencing. That would also remove the contradictions between the different versions of the history. More could be added to the very brief reference to the merger – and possibly to the near collapse in the company two years later (breaching banking covenants, difficult fund raising) Bebington (talk) 08:50, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think the article would indeed benefit from additional material on the near collapse Dormskirk (talk) 22:51, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Corporate advertising

[edit]

There appears to be a persistent attempt by Dahnyda to change the corporate web site link to one advertising the sale of housing. Dahnyda contributes only to the Taylor Wimpey site so is presumably associated with the Company. Reading the guidlines, I thought there was a procedure for permanently stopping such advertising. Bebington (talk) 08:30, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I suspect the only way to deal with this is to ask for the offending user to be blocked if he persists with advertising Dormskirk (talk) 22:52, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Domskirk and Bebington,

Wow I thought wiki was meant to be a community. I am a bit of a newbie and still trying to find my feet but unfortunately just because you don't agree with what I have written you change it and now you are trying to get me band. I am not associated with Taylor Wimpey in any way except that I have just bought one of their homes. Whilst searching for new homes I came across this page and those of other house builders. These pages were unhelpful and I have noticed small inaccuracies in them. The logo is the wrong logo for the company and the website links to a website with no information about Taylor Wimpey in the UK. I see no trouble in linking to the .co.uk site. This is commonly done on wiki, for example Tesco's page links to tesco.com where you are able to purchase groceries and find all of their stores. Just because you decide this is incorrect, you want to ban me! I realise this page was started by you, but IT IS NOT YOUR PAGE. It is that of the community!

I would understand your problem if I was trying to add a banner, but having the correct logo and website are not advertising!

I hope I can persuade you to keep one of my changes and make it my first edit (that stuck) on wikipedia.

Kind Regards

Point taken. As your edits are in good faith, I agree there is no way you should be blocked. You should really complete an "edit summary" for each of your edits so other editors can understand what you are trying to achieve and then there will be no misunderstanding. And I agree that the logo needs updating and have corrected that. By the way I cannot claim to have started this page! Dormskirk (talk) 20:19, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Domskirk, thank you very much for your response. It was much appreciated and I apologise if my statement was a little ratty, was just getting exasperated!!! Also thankyou for making the change back to the logo I uploaded, I will definitely take on board your advice about edit summaries! Wasnt quite sure what this was before. One of my friends assures me the best way to get into wiki is to "have a project" so I hope you do not mind if I have a go at making a few edits in the Taylor Wimpey article. I'll fill out edit summaries and if there's anything contentious will run it past you guys first (I have been admiring your wiki experience on your profile!!!) I was wondering if it is possible to have two websites on wiki pages? I feel having both Taylor Wimpey group website and UK website could really help people looking for information on Taylor Wimpey. I can see how you became so interested in FTSE companies! just googling this one, I can see how much there is to consider!!! Once again thank you very much for your response, I was starting to lose hope!

Kind Regards

Dear all,

Have just made a few website tweaks. I thought I would write on here just to check its all cool with you two. I have re added the plc website where it was before I messed it up! and I have now added a link to their .co.uk website in the external link section. As mentioned previously I believe it to be more useful to people looking for a information about what the company actually does. I have also change the name of the Yahoo website to clarify where it links too. Hope this is all good. Starting to look at more information about the merger of the companies.

Fine with me. Dormskirk (talk) 21:19, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dahynda you clearly work for the company we're not all retards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.156.13.200 (talk) 22:24, 13 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Taylor Woodrow now part of vini plc

[edit]

Taylor Woodrow is now the Engineering sector of Vinci Construction in the UK and parts of the middle east. This was some sort of requirement brought about by the sale of TWs 'good will' when purchased by Vinci85.159.128.118 (talk) 13:17, 13 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
