Merge proposal
[edit]There already exists an article "Teichoscopia" with the same topic! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.59.111.150 (talk) 02:35, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose, on the whole I oppose the use of "teichoscopia" as I think teichoscopy is used more frequently in English essays as per Google and Yahoo. See just two examples cited in this article, but there are more. Dieter Simon (talk) 01:17, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- Although all compound words ending in -scopia derive from Greek often via Latin, in English they change into words ending in -scopy, such as the huge number of medical terms such as cranioscopy, gastroscopy, coloscopy, etc., as well as such terms as microscopy, telescopy, etc. Dieter Simon (talk) 22:46, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
I also oppose the merge, at least in the direction suggested. It's fine to merge the contents of this article into Teichoscopy, since that is by far the more common term. DionysosProteus (talk) 12:53, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
- I think the drift of the immediately preceding section needs explaining as the "direction" opposed to was in fact the direction of "teichoscopy" to "teichoscopia", which has been reverted in the meantime to the other direction in the prompt, from "teichoscopia" to "teichoscopy". So the oppose means "against teichoscopia, for teichoscopy". Dieter Simon (talk) 23:05, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
